Thumbs down Worst customer service Ive ever had!

I had just got back from a great weekend getaway this afternoon, dropped the girls off at their home in Ceder Hill and decide to pick up a few CDs at the new Best Buy store they opened a few months ago. The manager is standing by the door, welcomes me and ask if I need any help, no Im just looking around. I look at different things, was ask if I needed help at least 6 times in 5 minutes, I say no, Im fine. I pick a few CDs, go to the front to pay, 1 cashier, 2 people ahead of me, still ok. The girl is new I guess and is having a few problems, after about 10 minutes she finishes with the guy and the next cust. goes up, more problems, keep in mind the manager is right there watching all this doing nothing, another cashier comes up to help but can only take credit cards, I pay cash or check for everything and most of the (now) 10 people behind me are cash too. After spending 20 minutes in line I put the CDs down and walk out. The manager says "Thanks Come Again" as Im leaving, I say never again! He follows me out of the store and ask what the problem was, I said you were watching the whole thing!
He puts the blame on the girl, I told him no, the blame is all on you, you saw what was happening, the growing line, you should have stepped up to help or sent somebody else in, I was hot! and Im usually a very calm passive person, I told him Id come back next month when they get a new competent manager.
Sorry for the long post, I had to vent a little more.

I recently had a tiff with Best Buy. I called the store manager, and then wrote an email to corporate. I have no plans to ever shop at Best Buy again.

    Yes.... yes I do!
one thing Ive learned in Hondas customer service classes is that a customer treated great might tell one or two about a good experience, one treated bad will tell everyone they can about a bad one... and I am!
.... I was looking forward to listening to that new Nine Inch Nails CD....shoulda went to the Target next door and picked it up.

I know how you feel John. I've been going through it with Car Toy"s the past couple of weeks. I had to special order a light kit, and two days later they told me it's discontinued. They don't have another one that I want, so they offered me store credit for the amount that I paid. I told them to get me what I ordered or give me my money back. So they did some looking around and finally found the one I ordered. I told them that they shouldn't display something if they can't get it.

Best Buy is trying to be more "customer centric"... thats why so many people ask if you need help, some find it useful but most customers actually get bothered by it. And unfortunately the manager prob would have had more problems than whoever was at the register. I have worked at the one down here over a year and overall most customers are happy. Also, when there is too much traffic in the store, they get assistance from other departments.. which means they have no register for cash, thus only CC...

They can put customer centric up their @$$,
If Best Buy wanted to seem "friendlier" to their customer base, they would have return & exchange policies to do this...
instead they worry about a few lost bucks off of one return instead of the MANY lost bucks off of a lost customer...
My old room-mate works for best buy for the last 11 years, he is all bent about their policies the last 5 years!

.... not to mention to $60.00+ worth of CDs they DIDNT get to sell to me!
I didnt mind the asking for help part, all the workers were great, just the fact that you couldnt pay for what you wanted. I felt bad for the cashier, I guess it was her birthday, she had a bunch of money pinned to her left shirt pocket. I hope she didnt get in trouble.

I think that the manager probably didn't know how to fix it. But are you sure it just wasn't a greeter by the door or did his name tag actaully say manager because they always have greeters now/well I guess they could be security too and make sure no one runs out.

I got one. I dropped my pictures off at Costco to be developed. None of the pictures came out. They put the washed negatives in the envelope and put a reciept on it for $0.00. I took the envelope and was walking out the door when the guy who checks the reciepts says "You have to go run this through the cash register and have it stamped". I said "It says $0.00 on it. Why do I have to go stand in your hideous lines for 20 min just to have a cashier put a stamp on a useless reciept?" Keep in mind there are no pictures and the negatives are blank. I have no use for any of this. So the guy says "Sorry those are the rules". I said "What are you an idiot?" "I pay $75/yr. for your card and the 'right' to shop in your stores and I get this?" He says "Sorry Sir". I threw the envelope at him and my membership card and said "Here cancel my membership, you an idiot."

Big chain stores need to get a clue.

Here is another one. I had a Home Depot store credit for $1200. I wanted to take $100 off that card and apply it to another card or a gift card so I could give it to some workers. They said "Sorry we can't do that." The computers don't allow us to transfer store credit. This is after a long debate the month before about transferring store credits to pay down my Home Depot Credit Card. So I ended buying a faucet for $100 on the Home Depot store credit and walked it to the cash register right next to her and say "I want to return this and get a store credit". The first thing she says is "Is there anything wrong with this?" Idiots!

Big Box Chains can bite me. I would rather pay the extra $0.20 to the local guy who knows my name and leave walmart to the trodden masses.

I am definately not the kind to complain either, but if you're sure that it was the manager (which I'm not doubting that it wasn't) then something needs to be done about it. And definately if he was just watching without helping. But please don't tell me that he said that "Thanks, Come Again" with a little smirk or attitude because if he did then you need to talk to his superior. Because that is just not how you run a business and definately one that has a good of staff (even though sometimes annoying) that askes you if you need help 6 times or so in 5 minutes (give or take) but if this is really the case then you need to contact his superior and if them, then the next best thing...the dreaded C.S. department. Well if you can't talk to a superior here's their C.S. info:

    Contact Information

    Customer Service Inquiries
    Best Buy
    Corporate Customer Care
    P.O. Box 949
    Minneapolis, MN 55440
    1-888-BEST BUY (1-888-237-8289)

I manager a hotel, in college, and own my own vending company (I'm not gloating about this) But that is NOT HOW TO RUN A COMPANY.(PERIOD)

The guy doesn't need to loose his job but he needs to get his **** together for sure. If it were up to me he would have one more chance.

But do what you feel is necessary.

Once again this is just my .02
